SUPRA Tour Especial 2013: Part One
SEPTEMBER 16, 2013
Boo Johnson and Nick Tucker in Mexico City for the first time.
Originally, this tour to Mexico and Costa Rica was going to be called the "SUPRA Taco Tour." Because we were going to be, quite literally, touring for tacos. Particularly during the first stop of the tour: Mexico City—a city that might have the best tacos in the world. But, for whatever reason, we did not call it the Taco Tour. We briefly considered "SUPRA Tourtilla," and then, "The SUPRA Libre Tour," and a host of other less interesting names, until we eventually decided on SUPRA Tour Especial. Because, like the fine beers found south of our borders, this tour was going to be especially especial.
First night, first signing, and we were mobbed by fans. This signing at Destructible was unusual because everyone who attended had to go to the shop earlier and get a pass. There are so many skaters in Mexico City that they have to issue tickets to keep the crowds to a minimum. This one took only three hours…
The next morning I'm greeted by Pat Rumney patiently waiting to hit the streets.
Then out comes Furby wearing the tow-in shirt of Spencer Hamilton hitting the streets.
Our first spot in Mexico City proved to be very fruitful. Jim Greco board slides around the bend.
Furby, Lizard, and Boo take on some of the locals, who were on their lunch break, in a game of soccer. Furby is bad ass
at soccer by the way.
Lizard KIng taking a break after the game while the boys warm up over the hip.
Furby throws down a b/s flip over the hip.
Spencer gets his trick and is ready for the next spot.
Next spot was this sculpture with steep banks. Jim Greco b/s nose pick.
Neen Williams heel flipping his way into the hearts of millions worldwide.
We localized this spot. "El pastor tacos and michaladas all day every day," as Neen would say.
On day three we arrived in Zarape for another team signing. When we pulled up to the shop over a thousand skaters and fans surrounded the van. Lizard gets himself a few photos.
Mexico has some love for the SUPRA team for sure.
"SIGN! SIGN! SIGN!" and "NEEN! NEEN! NEEN!" is all you hear.
Neen was presented with a Lucha Libra mask from a fan. Which was perfect timing because we were attending the 80th anniversary of Mexican wrestling that night.
After six hours of signing, we went across the street to get some food, listen to music, and just relax. Jim got down with the mariachi band and even made a guest appearance on the maracas.
And, yes, we went to the lucha libre match. Amazing.
Furby getting up on the ceiling of the second floor.
The next day we visited Acropolis, a deserted mall, to escape the rain and do a photo shoot for a local magazine. Big SUPRA piece on the wall from the locals.
Lizard King strikes a regal pose in front of this SUPRA piece painted on the glass in the archway of this long hallway.
Neen blasting off some fireworks. Scared the shit out of Boo.
Jim Greco hammers one down for SUPRA in Mexico.
Boo is BLACKSKATEHEAD!
Quick shot of the SUPRA Tour Especial team before we roll.
Neen is ready to go with you or anybody else. Stay tuned for Part Two.
